Major General R. Mark Brown completed active duty as the Commanding General of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Joint Theater Support Contracting Command (C-JTSCC) headquartered at Camp As Sayliyah Qatar. The command executed support to warfighters in Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), conducting approximately 80 percent of all contracting actions in Afghanistan. In this capacity, he served as Head of Contracting Activity for C-JTSCC and had oversight and coordination authority for contracting in Iraq, Kuwait and Pakistan.

In his prior assignment as Deputy for Acquisition and Systems Management for the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology (ASA(ALT)) he was responsible for executive program management oversight for cost, schedule and technical performance, and implementation of acquisition policy and systems integration for over 600 Army programs.

MG Brown has served in a wide variety of command and staff positions, including the PEO Soldier, Commanding General for the Army Materiel Command’s (AMC) Natick Soldier Systems Center, the Deputy Commanding General, U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command, and Commander of Defense Contract Management Area Baltimore.

MG Brown is a graduate of the United States Military Academy, and received an MS in Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army Senior Service College Science and Technology Fellowship at the University of Texas-Austin; the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.
